Touch - Grounding

Grounding, also known as earthing, involves physical contact with the Earth's surface to potentially benefit various aspects of health and well-being. Research suggests that grounding can improve sleep, reduce stress and pain, enhance mood, and promote faster wound healing. Some people find grounding to be a helpful tool for managing anxiety and depression, and for promoting a sense of calm and centreedness.   All it takes is to stand barefood on the ground and feel the magic run through your body.

Reconnect with the Earth's Natural Energy

The Earth emits a natural electromagnetic frequency known as the Schumann Resonance, which resonates at about 7.83 Hz. Sometimes referred to as the "heartbeat of the Earth," this frequency is a result of lightning discharges and the space between the Earth’s surface and the ionosphere. Some researchers suggest it may influence human biology, particularly our brainwave states.

Our bodies function using bioelectric signals—especially in the nervous system and heart. Direct current (DC), which flows steadily in one direction, plays a role in wound healing and cellular function. The Earth carries a subtle negative charge, and direct contact with it (such as walking barefoot on soil) may allow us to absorb free electrons, which some studies suggest can help reduce inflammation and oxidative stress.

However, in modern environments, we're constantly exposed to electromagnetic fields (EMFs) from Wi-Fi, mobile devices, power lines, and household electronics. These sources operate at much higher frequencies than the Earth’s natural resonance and may interfere with our biological rhythms.

Common symptoms potentially associated with high EMF exposure include:

Brain fog

Difficulty concentrating

Poor sleep quality

Low energy

Heightened stress

While research on the health effects of EMFs is ongoing, some people report increased sensitivity and discomfort in high-EMF environments.

AC vs. DC

Most homes and urban infrastructure use alternating current (AC) electricity, which rapidly changes direction. While AC powers our daily lives, it's different from the natural, low-frequency DC energy our bodies are more attuned to.

Why Grounding Matters

Grounding or earthing is the practice of reconnecting with the Earth’s surface—either by walking barefoot outdoors or using conductive products designed for that purpose. Limited studies suggest grounding can reduce cortisol levels, improve sleep, and shift the body's electrical charge from a mildly positive state toward a more neutral or negative one, potentially aiding inflammation and recovery.

Modern footwear, especially those with rubber or synthetic soles, block electrical conductivity, preventing this natural exchange. Grounding shoes with conductive soles help maintain this connection, even in urban settings.

That deep sense of calm and clarity you feel when you're in nature? It may be your body syncing with the Earth's natural rhythm. And while more research is needed, many find that reconnecting with the ground can promote a sense of well-being.

Research also shows that spending time around trees can reduce stress, improve immunity, lower blood pressure, and accelerate recovery from illness or trauma. Furthermore, when you hug a tree, you release a hormone called oxytocin – known as the hormone of love and trust – which gives you that warm, fuzzy feeling.

Here's a more detailed look at the potential benefits:

Improved Sleep

Studies suggest that grounding can improve sleep quality, potentially by regulating the body's circadian rhythm and reducing cortisol levels.

Some individuals report experiencing better sleep patterns, less fatigue, and fewer nighttime awakenings after grounding.

Reduced Stress and Anxiety

Grounding may help to balance the body's electrical systems, promote relaxation, and reduce stress and anxiety.

Some people report feeling calmer, more centreed, and less tense after regularly grounding.

Pain Relief

Grounding has been shown to reduce pain levels in some individuals, particularly those with chronic pain or muscle soreness.

Studies have indicated that grounding may help reduce pain associated with arthritis, sprains, and strains.

Enhanced Immune Function

Grounding may positively impact immune system function by reducing inflammation and cell damage.

Improved Mood

Some people report experiencing improved moods and a greater sense of emotional stability after grounding.

Grounding may help to release tension, promote relaxation, and enhance the production of feel-good neurotransmitters.

Enhanced Wound healing

Grounding may have an anti-inflammatory effect, potentially leading to faster wound healing and reduced tissue damage.

Some studies suggest that grounding can accelerate the healing process of wounds and injuries.

Improved Heart Health

Grounding may have a positive impact on heart health by reducing blood viscosity and improving circulation.

Reduced Inflammation

Grounding has been shown to reduce inflammation in the body, potentially contributing to overall health and well-being.

Increased Energy & Reduced Fatigue

Some people report experiencing increased energy levels and reduced fatigue after grounding.
